Episode Ordering
- All Power Rangers episodes are listed in the order decided upon by the ops, which matches neither production nor airing order exactly. It's close to production order, but is adjusted for continuity at times for better fit.
- This has to be done, because if we blindly trust the airing order, the MMPR would have been using their weapons since before they actually received them and the Super-Putty plotline would have been resolved in the episode before it began!
- Why is 'I'm Dreaming of a White Ranger' episode 25 in season three?
- Well, it couldn't take place in airing order, following Master Vile and the Metallic Armor as A Chimp in Charge marks the end of the school year. I'm Dreaming of a White Ranger would have had to have taken place long before then, given that the subsequent Christmas would be during Zeo (A Season to Remember). There are two places we know we can put the episode.
- One is directly before the final scene of A Different Shade of Pink, Part III, as this would have meant that Kat could have repented her evil self and become friends with the Rangers, but the events would take part before the pink power transfer. This would leave it best placed as #25.
- The other option is that it takes place AFTER the pink power transfer, perhaps even after Kimberly leaves. It could be that Kimberly has returned to Angel Grove visiting her Dad and friends for Christmas, and is still allowed to be involved in Ranger duties. There is nothing in any version of the episode to say that Kat is not the Pink Ranger. This again could place the episode as anything from #25 to #27.
- We chose #25 so as to fit the first placement theory, and also so it finishes the Kimberly era before Kat actually morphs for the first time in Rita's Pita.
- The aired edition of the episode, in not featuring Kat, is easier to place, as it does not present a conflict with Kimberly being around, but in the channel we carry the original, complete edition of the episode as our primary edition.
- PRTF's Legend of the Clocktower has been put back one place compared to production order.
- PRWF's Forever Red is listed out of production order, as it was always meant to be played in airing order. It was produced earlier so as to be able to schedule the return of the Red Rangers adequately, and to allow for the special effects work.
- PRSPD's Wormhole is also discretely unplaceable. It has been numbered as #34, but does not strictly belong in that placement:
- Grumm turns Morgana back into Mora in Badge, which is how she is in Wormhole, meaning that Wormhole takes place after this point.
- Insomnia begins directly where Badge ends, so Wormhole cannot take place inbetween as a discrete #34.
- Mora drops Sindy Sunshine at the end of the scene bridging Badge and Insomnia, and then discards the doll when Grumm returns it to her. Given that she clutches the doll as normal in Wormhole, again this episode must take place before Mora's discovery of Omni.
- Therefore we are regarding Wormhole as taking place after Morgana's de-aging, but before Mora's discovery of Omni. As such, the closest placement is as #34, despite it breaking up the direct continuation between Badge and Insomnia.
- All other series are listed in production order, but this may be adjusted as well if continuity problems are spotted.
Multiple Editions
- All encodes regarded as current are included in the list. To ensure you have the best collection of encodes, make sure you upgrade when new encodes are released.
- In a number of instances there are two copies, when each encode has advantages and disadvantages. For example, we might keep two encodes where one has better image quality, but the other is logo-free. Or one might enjoy uncut status, but the other is higher quality.
- The general order for aspect preference is this: Uncut > high quality > logo-free, although sometimes the last two may switch.
Regarding editing of episodes, including cuts
- All currently listed encodes are assumed to be uncut, and including credits where possible. Missing credits are noted in the guide, both opening and ending, but the only ones worth worrying about are the end credits for MMPR S3 to PRiS, as these included bloopers and other behind-the-scenes material.
- Any encodes known to be edited will be listed as such in the notes column of the encode guide. Most of these will mean removed shots of buildings being damaged, for obvious reasons.
- DragonRanger & Nadja's encode of I'm Dreaming of a White Ranger was created from the original North American VHS release, which is 29 minutes as opposed to the previously-encoded regular-sized TV version. It includes alternate takes, extended songs, and the legendary Kat scene, among other differences. It also contains bonus segments featuring the TV version's episode preview and end credits, and comparisons of alternate takes between the two versions.
- Any PRTF encodes not currently listed in the encode guide are almost certainly edited. Of particular note are TheKolkster & Cyrax9's original VCD-rips, of around 160mb in size, which should be removed from all fserves. These are not to be confused with their ~206mb encodes, which are uncut and from original broadcasts.
- PRTF episodes aired after 9/11 may have been subject to cuts before being aired anywhere. Although I refer to them as uncut in the guides section, this simply means they are from the original airings, which may have been censored before ever airing. The word "uncut" should not be misinterpreted, but these are certainly the episodes in their purest form
- DragonRanger's second (and current) encode of PRTF's The Quantum Quest features bonus segments comparing the edited and unedited versions of Eric's first morph. The episode is presented in its uncut form.
- DragonRanger's second (and current) encode of PRTF's Clash for Control, Part 1 features bonus segments comparing the edited and unedited versions of two scenes, the Q-Rex rampaging through Silver Hills, and the "Next Time on Power Rangers Time Force" preview. The episode is presented in its uncut form.
- DragonRanger's second (and current) encode of PRTF's Clash for Control, Part 2 features bonus segments comparing the edited and unedited versions of three different Q-Rex rampaging/zord battle scenes. The episode is presented in its uncut form.
- DragonRanger's encode of PRTF's The End of Time, Pt. 1 includes the legendary backwards-swearing cyclobots. Twice in the episode, a cyclobot addresses Ransik personally, and his speech, when reversed, includes profanities. Other encodes of this episode are the edited version, with the cleaned-up dialogue (although it's unclear why they bothered replacing it with MORE backwards talk at all, let alone cleaned-up versions of the same random phrases).
- All the Fox Kids/Jetix UK captures by Nadja & Bakurenoh, or Goldenslider, may be subject to cuts. FK/Jetix UK are incredibly anal, and are known for editing non-morphed action scenes, and flashing effects. We are unaware of where, when and if cuts may have been made to the particular captures we have taken from their broadcasts, though. However, any Power Rangers encodes from this station encoded by anyone else will have been checked and deemed uncut, unless specifically noted.
